EARLY PUPPYHOOD EDUCATION

We now know that puppies benefit from an early start to their education, just like children! Join us at Dogs in the Park for 90 minutes of fun with your family and your puppy each week. Puppies will learn about meeting and greeting new people, appropriate outlets for chewing, toilet training and much, much more!

Puppies must be between the ages of 8 weeks and 14 weeks on the first day of class to participate, so all participants will be in a similar developmental stage throughout the class.

Schedule: Class are available during the evenings, days, and on the weekends!

Duration: 8 weeks, 90 minutes per week

At Dogs in the Park, we know that people lead very busy lives, so we have tailored our obedience program to meet the needs of active families on the go. Attendance is based on a gym membership model where you purchase a membership for eight weeks at a time, and you can attend as many classes during that time as you are able to fit in. Many of our students choose specific times and days to come, while others come out to a class almost every day. Each student must attend an orientation class, by appointment before they start, much like a gym may require you to go through an orientation at the beginning of your membership. As you progress through the levels, you can earn access to an extra class on an instructor’s recommendation. All of our sport classes require minimum levels skills to participate.

The Levels program was created by world renowned trainer, Sue Ailsby, and is specifically designed to build a strong, working relationship between you and your dog while you work towards the goals YOU choose.

Sue Ailsby’s training secret is simple: a great competition dog requires the same skills as a great pet. How far a trainer goes toward perfecting those behaviours is entirely up to them.

Each Level adds new behaviours, such as Come-When-Called, Stand Stays, Eye Contact, Retrieving, and Scent work. Additionally each level increases the complexity of behaviours through added distractions, distance and duration of behaviours. Levels Class builds a strong, working relationship between you and your dog, a dog who is a willing partner, eager to learn, and happy to work.

With Levels Unlimited, you can take up to 7 classes a week on 5 days. We will soon be adding more classes, for the ultimate in flexibility!

NEW CLASS!!!!-Puppy Levels!

Puppy Levels Classes run twice a week; you can take either or both classes, much like a gym membership, for up to 8 weeks. When your pup is ready, he will move into our regular Levels UNLIMITED training program for adolescent and adult dogs, for the remainder of his 8 week enrolment.

Puppy Levels class is specifically designed to meet the needs of older pups who may or may not have attended puppy classes and are not yet ready for our adult Levels UNLIMITED obedience classes. The focus will be on developing good manners while leash walking; household manners, including leaving food alone on counters & tables, lying quietly on his mat while people eat their own dinner, and learning to play quietly and amuse himself with his own toys; and learning to come whenever he is called, both outside and inside. Each class includes time to discuss challenges you may be having with jumping, stealing food, house soiling, pulling on leash, playing “keep away”, resource guarding, biting / nipping, crate training and much, much more.

Your pup will have the opportunity to continue his socialization with off leash play time in our Puppy Levels Class and handling by other people attending the class. The class is offered on a revolving-door basis, and runs every week; new pups can join at any time; and the older pups can move on to our regular Levels UNLIMITED program whenever they are ready – to continue their training in our adult program.

All dogs must have received at least two sets of shots, and must receive their rabies vaccination before they reach 20 weeks of age.
